Austrian architectural studio Caramel Architects designed the fascinating residence in one of Vienna`s suburbs, named Rodaun.
A young couple and their child who live there at the moment have moved from the urban area to their dream house at the periphery of the city where they enjoy the colourful passing of the seasons surrounded by fresh air…That is the reason why they have bought a 500 square meters grassy plot with trees.
The architects designed a multi-level house featuring a simple backyard with a pool (four levels, three above the ground and one below). In order to maintain the character of the original meadow, living room and dining room on the ground floor are connected to the garden with open curved elements, making the impression of a 500 square meters living room. The tail end of the `swoosh` tapers to human scale forming smooth shallow depressions for sitting, curvilinear furniture, a pool and terrace with rounded corners.
Constructed to connect to the surroundings, the house displays a curved geometry. The roof accommodates an outdoor terrace with the removed patch of grass relocated on to its surface. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground floor envelope the building in transparency during daytime and translucency at night.
The interior is modern and minimalist. Furniture is in curved lines and neutral colours, in minimalist and futuristic style. White is the dominant colour, making the space bright and pleasant. Modern lamps and chandeliers are decorative elements during daytime, and at night give the house and backyard a completely new dimension. This home, with its unusual architecture, manages to fulfill the needs of a young couple for the urban life and their wish to enjoy in the nature.
This modern, open and airy space brings nature into the house, connecting the interior with the exterior in the best possible way enabling this family to be surrounded by pure nature.
